A coming 4 yo RID mare, Clare exemplifies everything desirable about the Irish Draught. She is beautiful, a lovely mover, has wonderful bone and a temperament that just can’t be beat. Started as a 3 yo in November(!) this mare never put a toe wrong. We have ridden her in roaring winds and on frozen ground and she’s always good. She’s green but willing and as level-headed as they come. She’s got three good gaits and would be well suited for either dressage or jumping disciplines. Foxhunting could also be in her future as well as a fantastic trail horse. She’s just so non-reactive that she’s a true pleasure under saddle for the more timid rider, but talented enough for an ambitious one.
She also offers tremendous residual value as a broodmare, She comes from proven performance and breeding lines. Her sire Braveheart, events and foxhunts with his amateur owner and attended WEG. He often gets an exception at shows to be stabled with mares and geldings, he is so non-studdish in his behavior. Her grandsire competed in dressage to PSG and in open jumpers. Her granddam was the 2009 Upperville ID champion as well as champion at the 2009 IDHSNA show. Her dam showed in 2010 and 2011 and was always in the ribbons. Her dam received very high inspection scores with excellent or 1 point from excellent in most categories. Her damsire competed in Europe in both showjumping and dressage as well as serving as a Master’s horse. Her granddam and great grandam were also used in foxhunting and driving. Clare attended the IDHSNA show for 4 days and showed in-hand. She was relaxed and easy to have there. We hope to get her to her first dressage show in February.
